What happens to the dead skype users ?
Just something that popped up in my mind, when reading Jean Mercier his post an a deceased Skype User.. 5th anniversary and one less.
Here are the options (yeah I am a funny guy) :
1. cremation of account
2. permanent storage for user statistics
3. put on ebay for auction
4. hand over to the family of deceased
5. deletion of the account and release it (what if somebody else takes it ?)
But seriously many topics come to mind on the management of dead Skype users. After all anybody can be anybody on the Skype Cloud and now a dead person can keep on chatting and having a phone number.
A phone call from the grave, almost a Steven Spielberg Scenario... I can see some serious issues here on the matter of authentication.
This is why VoIP-phonenumbers will never be accepted by banks for example... Especially Skype has no authentication of the users. Anybody can be anybody. How to run stats on 350 mio (minus 1) on the Skype p2p cloud by the way.. Virtually impossible.
One idea that comes to mind is that Skype should keep the dead user account in their system but put a cross-symbol next to it, unless the Skype cloud is a zombie-cloud of dead users or dead user accounts .... Getting the picture here ? Yeah I know it's morbid, but it is reality. It would help to see some decolorization of account - from grey to black... and then put it on ice.
But seriously skype should have kind of proper so you know if you are talking to a ghost or zombie. Nobody would like to be the victim of death related jokes.
Better fix it Skype....
W

I like it.
I don't like it.
