My Skype ID just got attacked by something called the Worm.Win32.Skipi.a
2pm something. A contact I know threw me a file. I clicked a bit to fast (I thought I could trust the contact) and my computer got attacked via my Skype ID. Here see for yourself, what happened and how I got to know. Do not click on any of the url's as displayed. They are simply put here for documentation. Be safe!

This is what I got thrown just now and how I reacted to it. If I had not had www.kaspersky.com running I would not have know anything. I clicked (out of habit) by accident on the url. I thought the user was trying to throw me something. I wish skype would have some built-in protect when they recognize such url's flying over their network.
It shows again that you should never just click on something that is thrown to you via a Skype p2p encrypted channel (and it got passed the firewall !) just like that. But there you see again, that a file got thrown to me stating it was coming from the person itself "I used photoshop and edited it with the url". Certainly something not to click on.
And get a good security, worm and virus-protection.
www.kaspersky.com did the job for me. I could find only this about the Worm.Win32.Skipi.a on the internet. Better stay away from those funny urls ! Be safe.
Again when using skype or any other IM be a bit more vigilant for such kind of threats. It's not even funny. I wonder if the person who send me the link I aware of it. Maybe they don't like me or maybe they simply got attacked themselves.
Or maybe they were trying to attack me themselves, which is something I doubt since they used their own know SKYPE-ID. Anyways the attack failed. Now imagine that you are an IT-manager having to take all these concerns into account.
This is what Kaspersky reported. A worm trying to load a virus via a screen-saver hidden-file. Something like that.
Luckily www.kaspersky.com detected it.
I wonder how this kind of annoyances could affect Skype phones ? I hope not ! I find that the biggest problem with skype is that anybody can create any account over and over without having to authenticate themselves via email first. The accounts are active on the spot. It's the perfect one time pad. This should be changed. There should be some email-authentication before you can simply use an account.
